Recap: Northern Ill vs. Miami-Ohio

DeKalb, IL (SportsNetwork.com) - Three Northern Illinois players netted 10 points each and the Huskies held the Miami-Ohio RedHawks to 30 percent shooting in the game as Northern Illinois ran to a 53-41 victory in Mid- American Conference play at the Convocation Center.

Aksel Bolin, Travon Baker and Aaron Armstead each contributed 10 points in the win for Northern Illinois (10-11, 4-5 MAC). Baker tallied four steals, and Jordan Threloff grabbed 10 rebounds in the win. The Huskies have won three games in a row.

Joshua Oswald netted 10 points to lead Miami-Ohio (9-11, 5-4), adding five rebounds to his stat line. Geovonie McKnight tallied eight points and six rebounds in the loss, which is the second in three contests for the RedHawks.

Northern Illinois connected on 44 percent of its shots in the first half, but found itself down 27-26 as the teams headed for the locker rooms at the midway point. Miami hit just 36 percent of its shot in the period, including going 0- of-5 from 3-point distance. The RedHawks hit 9-of-12 from the free-throw line, though.

The Huskies' shooting percentage dropped to 38.5 in the second half, which included 5-of-9 from 3-point range. The RedHawks, however, shot a miserable 24 percent from the floor in the frame, including 1-of-10 from distance.

NIU had the edge in bench points, 21-13, and from the 3-point distance, 7-1. Miami won the battle from the free-throw line, 10-4.
