Recap: Western Mich vs. Miami-Ohio

Kalamazoo, MI (SportsNetwork.com) - Austin Richie scored 20 points as the Western Michigan Broncos easily beat the Miami-Ohio Redhawks, 68-57, in a Mid- American Conference tilt at University Arena.

Shayne Whittington logged a double-double with 18 points and 10 boards for the Broncos (16-8, 9-3 MAC), who extended their winning streak to five games. David Brown and Connar Tava each had double-digit points with 11 and 10, respectively.

Will Felder and Geovonie McKnight each finished with 12 points for the Redhawks (9-14, 5-7), who have lost four straight contests. Quinten Rollins added five steals.

WMU shot 42.9 percent from the floor in the first period as it led 29-23 at halftime. Miami made only 36 percent of its field goal attempts in the opening stanza.

The Broncos connected on 45.5 percent of their shots from the field in the second stanza. With 8:47 left, WMU went on a 13-2 run to pull away from the Redhawks.

WMU dominated the glass, as it held a 38-25 rebounding advantage.
