Recap: Davidson vs. Milwaukee

Davidson, NC (SportsNetwork.com) - Matt Tiby finished with 21 points and nine rebounds to lead the Milwaukee Panthers to an 81-77 victory over the Davidson Wildcats in a non-conference clash at Belk Arena.

For the Panthers (1-1), Steve McWhorter added 12 points while Jordan Aaron and Austin Arians each chipped in 11 points. Kyle Kelm scored 10 points to help Milwaukee notch its first win of the 2013-14 campaign.

Brian Sullivan and Tom Droney tallied 22 points each for the Wildcats (0-2), while De'Mon Brooks posted a double-double with 14 points and 10 rebounds.

After the teams traded leads early in the opening half, the Wildcats were able to push ahead late and took 42-35 lead into intermission. Milwaukee shot 40.7 percent from the field in the first period, including just 2-of-10 from behind the 3-point line. Davidson connected on 45.2 percent of its attempts from the floor with a 6-of-11 clip from beyond the arc before the break.

After trailing by as many as 11 points early in the second stanza, the Panthers used a 24-10 run to battle back and take a 68-65 lead with little over five minutes left in regulation. The Wildcats answered and retook the lead at 71-70 with 3:18 to play, but the Panthers scored seven-straight points to take a six-point lead in the final minute and held on for the victory.

The Panthers outscored the Wildcats, 32-11, at the free-throw line in the contest. Milwaukee struggled from the perimeter, making just 3-of-17 shots from beyond the arc, while Davidson connected on 8-of-21 of its 3-point field goal attempts.
