Recap: Northern Ill vs. James Madison

DeKalb, IL (SportsNetwork.com) - Ron Curry scored a game-high 19 points as the James Madison Dukes slipped past the Northern Illinois Huskies, 60-55, as part of the NIU Invitational Tournament at the NIU Convocation Center.

Curry also handed out five assists for James Madison (1-1). Charles Cooke added 13 points and Andrey Semenov posted a double-double with 10 points to match 10 rebounds.

Travon Baker dropped in 17 points and Aaron Armstead added 16 more for Northern Illinois (0-2).

In the first half James Madison shot at a 50 percent rate, though it hit just 3-of-13 from beyond the arc. It was still enough to take a 33-23 lead at the break as the Huskies made just 30 percent from the floor and 2-of-11 from 3- point range.

The Huskies were unable to take advantage of a 36 percent shooting effort from the Dukes in the second half as Northern Illinois hit just 33.3 percent of its own field goal tries.

James Madison outscored the Huskies, 34-26, in the paint and held a 43-36 edge on the boards.
