Recap: Toledo vs. Northern Ill

Toledo, OH (SportsNetwork.com) - Justin Drummond tallied 24 points and 11 rebounds to lead the Toledo Rockets to a 77-68 triumph over the Northern Illinois Huskies in Mid-American Conference action at Savage Hall.

Drummond shot 9-of-11 from the field and 4-of-4 at the foul line for Toledo (16-2, 4-1 MAC), which has won four straight games. Julius Brown made 3-of-5 from 3-point range on his way to 15 points, while Rian Pearson and Nathan Boothe scored 10 apiece.

For NIU (7-10, 1-4), Travon Baker led the way with 17 points on 4-of-8 from beyond the arc. Darrell Bowie chipped in 16 points and Jordan Threloff and Aaric Armstead netted 14 and 10 points, respectively.

Toledo made 50 percent of its field goal tries in the first half while holding NIU to 42.9 percent shooting. The Rockets ended the frame on 21-10 run to take a 34-26 lead at the break.

The Rockets shot an identical 50 percent from the floor in the second stanza and never relinquished their advantage down the stretch.

Toledo won both the rebounding (32-28) and the turnover (17-13) battles on the evening.
