Recap: Loyola Marymount vs. South Dakota St

San Diego, CA (SportsNetwork.com) - Anthony Ireland recorded his fifth career double-double as the Loyola Marymount Lions posted a 98-89 victory over the South Dakota Jackrabbits during the final matchup of the USD Classic at Jenny Craig Pavilion.

Ireland finished with 20 points and a career-high 12 assists for Loyola (2-0). Gabe Levin added 20 points and six rebounds and Ben Dickinson scored a team- high 22 points to go with six rebounds of his own.

Jordan Dykstra paced South Dakota State (0-2) with 22 points and 11 rebounds. Also in double figures for the Jackrabbits were Brayden Carlson (19 points), Chad White (18) and Jake Bittle (10), who did so off the bench.

Despite shooting 53.3 percent from the floor, while holding South Dakota State to 44.8 percent shooting, the Lions led by a slim 45-44 score at the half. The Jackrabbits were able to stay close by knocking down 15-of-21 shots from the free throw line.

After the break the Lions heated up to 62.1 percent shooting while the Jackrabbits cooled to 38.5 percent. South Dakota State did get 22 points from the charity stripe in the final 20 minutes but it wasn't enough to make up the difference.

The two teams combined for 62 fouls in the game. Loyola's overall field goal percentage (.576) was the highest in a game against a Division I foe since 2009.
