Recap: Elon vs. Ga Southern

Elon, NC (SportsNetwork.com) - Jack Isenbarger scored 10 points and hit the game-winning 3-pointer as the Elon Phoenix edged out the Georgia Southern Eagles, 60-59, in Southern Conference play at Alumni Gym.

Ryley Beaumont logged a double-double with 14 points and 13 rebounds for the Phoenix (14-11, 7-3 SoCon), who won their fourth straight game. Isenbarger finished the outing just 3-of-17 from the field.

Jelani Hewitt netted a game-high 20 points for the Eagles (11-14, 4-6), who have lost back-to-back games. Kyle Doyle recorded a double-double with 12 points and 10 rebounds. Angel Matias grabbed 10 rebounds.

The Eagles shot 41.2 percent from the floor in the opening half, slightly better than the Phoenix's 38.7 percent. Elon sank five 3-pointers, however, and claimed a narrow 35-32 halftime lead.

In the second half, the Eagles dipped to 34.5 percent from the field, including just 1-of-6 from beyond the arc. Despite shooting just 28.1 percent, the Phoenix kept the game close. After being down five with 1:57 left to play, Elon finished the game on a 6-0 run, culminating with Isenbarger's 3-pointer with two seconds left to complete the comeback.

Elon outscored the visitors in bench scoring 22-7 and won despite leading by no more than six points in the contest.
