Recap: UNC Greensboro vs. Elon
Greensboro, NC (SportsNetwork.com) - Jack Isenbarger scored 17 points to lead all five starters in double figures for the Elon Phoenix, who defeated the UNC Greensboro Spartans, 81-68, in a Southern Conference tilt at Greensboro Coliseum.
Sebastian Koch added 15 points and six assists for Elon (16-11, 8-3 SoCon), which has won six straight. Ryley Beaumont and Lucas Troutman tacked on 13 points apiece and Kevin Blake chipped in 11.
RJ White finished with a game-high 21 points off the bench for UNCG (12-16, 5-8), which has lost four of its last five. Kyle Cain contributed 16 points, but on 7-of-18 shooting.
Elon's hot shooting in the first half allowed it to take a 42-31 lead into the intermission. The Phoenix knocked down 51.7 percent from the floor in the opening period, including a 6-of-10 showing from 3-point range. UNCG fell behind, hitting on only 43.8 percent from the floor.
Despite cooling to 43.5 percent shooting after the break, the Phoenix easily hung on for the win, as the Spartans hit on only 28.2 percent of their field goal tries in the final 20 minutes.
UNCG lost despite a 32-26 advantage on points in the paint and a 20-2 edge in second chance points.Game Notes
