Recap: Ga Southern vs. Elon

Statesboro, GA (SportsNetwork.com) - Lucas Troutman led all scorers with 20 points to go along with four blocks, as the Elon Phoenix claimed a 66-61 win over the Georgia Southern Eagles in a Southern Conference matchup at Hanner Fieldhouse.

Jack Isenbarger added 14 points and Tanner Smith tallied 12 points and seven rebounds off the bench to help the Phoenix (17-11, 10-3 SoCon) sweep the regular-season series and extend their current winning streak to seven in a row.

Tre Bussey led the way for the Eagles (12-17, 5-9) with 16 points. Jelani Hewitt was next in line with 13 points, followed by Brian Holmes with 11, and Angel Matias with 10. Marvin Baynham grabbed a game-high 14 rebounds in a losing effort.

Elon knocked down five first-half 3-pointers while holding GSU to 31.3-percent shooting from the floor, as the Phoenix took a 34-27 halftime lead into the locker room.

The Eagles were not able to overtake the lead in the second stanza, as they shot just 1-of-9 from beyond the arc over the final 20 minutes.

If Elon can notch an eighth straight win at Furman on Monday, it would match the team's longest winning streak since it became a Division I member.
