Recap: St Marys-CA vs. Pepperdine

Moraga, CA (SportsNetwork.com) - Brad Waldow posted a double-double of 21 points and 13 rebounds to power the Saint Mary's Gaels to an 80-74 triumph over the Pepperdine Waves in West Coast Conference action at McKeon Pavilion.

Stephen Holt added 20 points and Kerry Carter tallied 18 for Saint Mary's (14-5, 5-2 WCC), which has won five of its last six. Beau Levesque chipped in 13 points.

Brendan Lane logged 18 points and three blocks for Pepperdine (12-9, 5-4). Malcolm Brooks contributed 11 points and Jeremy Major and Austin Mills each registered 10.

In the first half the Gaels shot 51.5 percent from the floor, including a 5- of-12 effort from beyond the arc. They led 40-35 at the break, with the Waves netting 50 percent from the field in the frame.

Although they only recorded seven field goals in the second half, the Gaels limited the Waves to 38.7 percent shooting and drained 25-of-34 shots from the free-throw line to hold on for the win.

Saint Mary's had 11 more free-throw attempts (46-35) than Pepperdine and a 41-34 edge on the glass.
