Recap: UNC Greensboro vs. Chattanooga

Greensboro, NC (SportsNetwork.com) - Kyle Cain registered a double-double with 24 points and 10 rebounds as the Spartans of UNC Greensboro secured an 88-84 win over the Chattanooga Mocs in Southern Conference play at Greensboro Coliseum.

Cain finished the day shooting 7-of-10 from the floor and also blocked three shots for the Spartans (13-16, 6-8 SoCon) as they snapped a two-game slide. Also scoring in double figures for the Spartans were Tevon Saddler and Kayel Locke with 13 and 12 points, respectively.

The Mocs (16-13, 10-4) were led by Casey Jones who logged 21 points and 11 rebounds, while Z. Mason had a double-double of his own with 19 points and 11 boards as well. Gee McGhee and Ronrico White contributed 12 and 11 points, respectively, as the team lost for the fourth time in five tries.

Chattanooga got off to a rough start with just 34.5 percent shooting from the floor in the first half, including 1-of-6 behind the 3-point line, but the Mocs bailed themselves out with a 16-of-22 showing at the free-throw line and trailed by just five at the break, 42-37.

UNC Greensboro, which hit on 52.0 percent from the floor through the first 20 minutes of action, was 42.9 percent accurate from the field in the second half, but also leaned heavily on 13-of-16 shooting at the charity stripe in order to pick up the four-point win.

In a game that featured 10 ties and seven lead changes, Chattanooga won the rebounding battle, 45-35, and outscored the hosts at the free-throw line, 34-25, but could not overcome 16 turnovers.
