Recap: UNC Greensboro vs. Western Carolina

Greensboro, NC (SportsNetwork.com) - Brandon Boggs scored a game-high 25 points as the Western Carolina Catamounts captured an 82-77 overtime win against UNC Greensboro in Southern Conference play at Greensboro Coliseum.

James Sinclair contributed 14 points and both Tom Tankelewicz and Trey Sumler chipped in 13 for the Catamounts (15-12, 8-4 SoCon) as they won for the third time in the last four outings.

Leading the way for UNCG (12-15, 5-7) was Kyle Cain with a double-double consisting of 19 points and 12 rebounds, followed by Tevon Saddler with 11 points and the trio of Kayel Locke, RJ White and Nicholas Paulos with 10 points apiece. The Spartans have now fallen in three of the last four games.

A close game throughout, neither team led by more than four points in the first half, with UNCG claiming a 33-31 advantage at the break after holding the visitors to 37.0 percent shooting from the floor.

In the second half it was more of the same, with Justin Browning knocking down a pair of free throws with 16 seconds remaining in regulation to knot the score at 71-71 to send the meeting into overtime.

During the bonus session the teams again found themselves tied, for the 18th time, at 77-77 with under two minutes to play, but from there the Catamounts finished on a 5-0 run to capture the win.

In a game that featured 13 lead changes, WCU overcame 15 turnovers by outscoring the hosts by a 25-20 margin at the charity stripe.
