Recap: Samford vs. UNC Greensboro

Birmingham, AL (SportsNetwork.com) - Tim Williams had a 29-point, 12-rebound double-double to lead the Samford Bulldogs to an 88-78 win over the UNC Greensboro Spartans in a Southern Conference matchup at the Pete Hanna Center.

Isaiah Williams scored 19 points on just eight field goal attempts and dished out five assists for the Bulldogs (8-13, 2-4 SoCon), who have now won two of their past three games. Substitute Raijon Kelly scored 18 points on 5-of-9 shooting.

The Spartans (10-11, 3-3) were led by Kyle Cain and his double-double of 23 points and 11 rebounds. Kayel Locke scored 14 points on 7-of-7 shooting from the field and Tevon Saddler added 13 points, getting 11 points from the free- throw line.

The Bulldogs took a 43-33 lead into the locker room at the half as they shot 63 percent from the floor in the opening frame, including a 5-of-7 showing from beyond the arc. The Spartans shot at a 46.4 percent clip in the period.

The Bulldogs held off the Spartans in the second half by sinking 54.2 percent from the floor, while limiting the opposition to 39.4 percent.

Samford had 12 but outscored UNC Greensboro 17-4 in points off turnovers and 13-2 in fast break points.
