Recap: UNC-Wilmington vs. Coll of Charleston

Wilmington, NC (SportsNetwork.com) - Shane Reybold led the way with 15 points, including a shot at the end of regulation that sent the game into overtime, as the UNC Wilmington Seahawks outlasted the College of Charleston Cougars in double overtime, 57-55, in a Colonial Athletic Association battle at Trask Coliseum.

For the Seahawks (9-21, 3-12 CAA), Reybold added 10 rebounds and Dylan Sherwood scored 11. UNCW snapped a two-game losing streak with the victory.

Nori Johnson led the Cougars (14-15, 6-8) with 15 points, while Adjehi Baru finished with 13 points and seven boards, and Willis Hall posted a double- double with 10 points and 10 rebounds.

Charleston was up 23-18 at the half. Both teams had difficulty from the field in the opening period, as the Cougars shot just 33.3 percent, including 2- of-8 from 3-point range. UNCW struggled even more, making only 31.8 percent of its field goal tries and missing all seven of its 3-point attempts.

The teams improved their shooting after halftime. The Cougars hit on 47.8 percent from the field and the Seahawks hit 44.4 percent. Trailing by eight, 49-41, with just under three minutes to play, the Seahawks scored eight- straight points to knot the game at 49-49 with 1:38 left in regulation. After an Anthony Stitt jumper put the Cougars back in front with a minute to play, Reybold knocked down a shot at the buzzer to send the game to overtime.

In the extra session, the teams combined to miss all nine of their shots from the field and commit five turnovers, as neither squad could put points on the board. They went into double overtime still tied at 51-51. In the second overtime, Charleston finally broke the scoring drought by running off four- straight points to take a 55-51 lead with two minutes left. UNCW answered back, scoring the final six points of the contest to grab the victory.

The Seahawks bench was much more productive than the Cougars' bench, outscoring them 31-4. The teams were nearly even on the boards, with UNCW having a slight rebounding edge, 41-40.
