Recap: St Marys-CA vs. North Dakota St

Moraga, CA (SportsNetwork.com) - Brad Waldow registered his first double- double of the season with 18 points and 10 rebounds as the Saint Mary's-CA Gaels coasted to a 78-65 decision over the North Dakota State Bison in a non- conference tilt at McKeon Pavilion.

Waldow also dealt out five assists for SMC (3-0), which also received 14 points and nine rebounds courtesy of Beau Levesque. Matt Hodgson added 10 points on 4-of-5 shooting from the floor off the bench to help the Gaels remain undefeated. Stephen Holt contributed seven points, eight boards and six assists in 38 minutes of action.

NDSU (1-1) rallied around Marshall Bjorklund, who made 10 of his 14 field goal tries en route to a game-high 23 points. Taylor Braun chipped in 14 points and four assists while Lawrence Alexander tallied 12 points.

The Bison held a 7-6 lead at the 15:41 mark of the opening half, but SMC jumped in front and never trailed again for the rest of the contest. The Gaels took a 34-27 advantage into the intermission after they limited the visitors to 1-of-7 shooting from beyond the arc in the first period.

NDSU stayed within striking distance for the majority of the second half and Alexander drained a jumper with just under 10 minutes remaining to cut SMC's lead to just two points at 51-49. Waldow responded with a jumper of his own on the ensuing play and the Gaels prevented the visitors from making it a one-possession game again from that point on. SMC converted 14-of-18 attempts at the charity stripe over the final 20 minutes and ended the game on a 7-0 run.

The Gaels enjoyed a 40-22 edge in the rebounding battle and connected on 6- of-13 shots from 3-point range.
