Recap: Siena vs. Hofstra

Albany, NY (SportsNetwork.com) - Lavon Long, Rob Poole and Maurice White all scored 14 points as the Siena Saints captured a 67-59 win over the Hofstra Pride in non-conference action at the Times Union Center.

Also scoring in double figures for the Saints (4-8) was Brett Bisping with 10 points as the team won for the second time in the last three outings.

Hofstra (3-7) was led by Jamall Robinson who tallied a game-high 16 points, followed by Chris Jenkins and Dion Nesmith with 11 points apiece off the bench for a squad that lost for the fourth time in five tries. Zeke Upshaw, who entered the contest leading the team in scoring with 19.9 ppg, finished with a mere seven points as he shot a dismal 2-of-17 from the floor, 1-of-10 behind the 3-point line.

Hofstra led early on in the meeting, but it wasn't long before the Saints moved out to a 20-10 advantage midway through the first half. However, Siena shot only 35.5 percent from the field and 1-of-6 beyond the arc through the first 20 minutes, allowing the hosts to post just a 28-23 edge at the break.

In the second half Siena responded with 53.8 percent shooting from the floor and 10-of-12 at the free-throw line in order to grab the much-needed win.

While the Saints converted only 2-of-9 out on the perimeter on the night, Hofstra was a woeful 5-of-24 on the outside.
