Recap: South Dakota St vs. Denver

Brookings, SD (SportsNetwork.com) - Brayden Carlson scored 22 points as the South Dakota State Jackrabbits earned a 78-69 victory over the Denver Pioneers in a Summit League matchup at Frost Arena.

Jordan Dykstra added 19 points for South Dakota State (17-11, 9-4 Summit), which has won seven of its last eight. Cody Larson contributed 16 points before fouling out, Chad White had 11 points and Jake Bittle collected 11 rebounds.

Jalen Love scored 18 points and Marcus Byrd finished with 10 for Denver (15-13, 8-5), which had won its previous three.

Both teams struggled in the first half. The Jackrabbits shot at a 37 percent clip in the frame, which was just better than the Pioneers (.367). South Dakota State led, 29-27, at intermission.

The Jackrabbits found their stroke in the second half, sinking 60.9 percent from the floor. The Pioneers also improved their shooting (.567), but they were outscored 18-3 at the free-throw line to succumb to the loss.

South Dakota attempted 32 free-throws, making 25. Denver had only eight chances at the charity stripe.
