Recap: Towson vs. Hofstra

Towson, MD (SportsNetwork.com) - Jerrelle Benimon scored 15 points, collected 10 rebounds and handed out five assists as the Towson Tigers breezed past the Hofstra Pride 76-58 in a Colonial Athletic Association bout at SECU Arena.

Mike Burwell netted 17 points and Marcus Damas added 15 for Towson (13-8, 4-2 CAA), which ended a two-game skid. Four McGlynn tacked on 11 points.

Zeke Upshaw scored a game-high 20 points for Hofstra (7-14, 3-3), which has lost three of its last four. Dion Nesmith chipped in 15 points.

Towson led 40-29 at halftime after shooting 48 percent from the floor and going 12-of-17 at the free-throw line in the opening period. Hofstra only connected on 35.3 percent from the field during the half.

After the break the Pride improved to 44.4 percent shooting, but it was not nearly enough to catch the Tigers, who knocked down 46.4 percent from the floor in the final 20 minutes.

Towson had a 16-0 scoring advantage off of turnovers and a 47-26 edge on the glass.
