Recap: IUPU-Ft Wayne vs. South Dakota St

Fort Wayne, IN (SportsNetwork.com) - Luis Jacobo scored 24 points on 10-of-18 shooting to lead the IUPU-Fort Wayne Mastodons over the South Dakota State Jackrabbits 82-75 in Summit League action at Gates Sports Center.

Steve Forbes netted 16 points and pulled down five rebounds for the Mastodons (14-5, 2-0 Summit). Mo Evans and Joe Reed each netted 11 points, with Evans contributing three steals. IPFW has won four consecutive games and eight of its last nine.

Brayden Carlson scored 24 points on 7-of-16 shooting and was a perfect 6-of-6 from the free-throw line to lead the Jackrabbits (9-8, 1-1). Jordan Dykstra contributed 18 points and six rebounds, while Chad White and Cody Larson each chipped in 12. Larson added eight rebounds but turned the ball over six times in the contest. The loss snapped a five-game win streak for the Jackrabbits.

The Mastodons shot 50 percent in the first half and 7-of-7 from the free-throw line, and took a slim 44-42 lead into the break. South Dakota State hit 45.8 percent of its shots from the floor and went 5-of-9 from 3-point distance.

IPFW cooled off a bit in the second half, shooting 45.2 percent from the floor and just 3-of-15 from 3-point range. The Jackrabbits improved to 48 percent from the field, but the Mastodons still managed to outscore SDSU in the half, 38-33.

The Mastodons had an overwhelming advantage in points in the paint, outscoring the Jackrabbits from up close, 42-16. They also held the edge in points off turnovers, 16-6.
