IUPUI (5-16) at IUPU-Fort Wayne (15-6)

GAME NOTES: The IUPUI Jaguars will try to end a four-game losing streak as they travel to face the IUPU-Fort Wayne Mastodons in Summit League action at the Gates Sports Center.

All four of the losses IUPUI has suffered in its skid have been in Summit League play. The Jaguars are the only winless program this season in the conference, but will look to chance that. The Jaguars are coming off a 66-45 loss at the hands of Denver last Saturday.

IPFW had won five consecutive games before being halted by South Dakota, 75-61, last Saturday in the team's most recent outing. Still, the Mastodons have won five of the last six and nine of their last 11. IPFW is tied for the Summit League lead at 3-1.

IUPUI holds a pretty sturdy all-time series lead over IPFW, 25-12. The Mastodons won the most recent contest in 2013, but IUPUI has won two of the last three.

IUPUI is a team that hasn't scored 70 points in a game since Jan. 9 - a loss to South Dakota State. The last win versus a Division I opponent came back on Dec. 7 against North Carolina Central. The Jaguars have struggled this season, and went on two lengthy scoring droughts against Denver on the loss. Mitch Patton was the only IUPUI player to score double-digit points in the loss, netting 19. Marcellus Barksdale nearly had a double-double with nine points and 11 rebounds in the game.

Patton comes in at second in scoring for the Jags this season with 12.3 ppg on 47.1 percent shooting from the floor. Ian Chiles is the team's leading scorer, having played in all 21 games and posting 15.9 ppg. Barksdale leads the team in both rebounding (7.2 rpg) and assists (73), and has an 8.8 ppg scoring average. The Jaguars score 68.5 ppg, but give up 72.6 ppg to their opponents.

IPFW and South Dakota traded turns hanging onto the lead in the Mastodons' most recent game, but a minute and a half into the second half the Coyotes rattled off a 15-2 run to go up big. Luis Jacobo led the Mastodons with 19 points on 7-of-13 shooting, while Mo Evans poured in 13 points off the bench. IPFW shot 42 percent in the game, but went just 7-of-20 from 3-point range and 12-of-19 from the free-throw line.

Jacobo leads the team in scoring this season with 14.9 ppg, although he's missed three contests on the year. Steve Forbes is second with 11.7 ppg on an impressive 65.9 percent shooting from the floor. Pierre Bland tops the team in assists with 87, while Forbes checks in with a team-leading 4.9 rpg. The Mastodons score an average of 77.7 ppg and only give up 70 ppg to their opponents.

IUPUI will need almost everything to go right in this contest if it hopes to unseat one of the Summit League's top teams. The Mastodons are too adept on offense, and will score at will in this matchup.
