Recap: Western Ill vs. Alcorn State

El Paso, TX (SportsNetwork.com) - Michael Ochereobia scored 13 points as the Western Illinois Leathernecks outlasted the Alcorn State Braves, 64-62, in an overtime thriller at the Don Haskins Center as part of the Sun Bowl Invitational.

Mohamed Conde netted 12 points off the bench and Mike Miklusak added 11 points and seven rebounds for Western Illinois (6-8). Jabari Sandifer tacked on 10 points before fouling out.

LeAntwan Luckett scored a game-high 23 points for Alcorn State (3-9) and Octavius Brown added 17.

Alcorn State shot 52 percent from the floor and forced 10 turnovers in the first half to take a 35-26 lead at the break.

Western Illinois rallied in the second half by shooting 60 percent from the floor. However it was Luckett who forced overtime, as he nailed a jumper with 38 seconds left in regulation to tie the game at 59-59.

The Braves hit their first field goal try in the extra session but missed their final seven, while the Leathernecks hit 3-of-4 from the free-throw line to escape with the win.

The Leathernecks got better production from their bench, especially after halftime, when their reserves had a 21-7 edge over their Alcorn State counterparts.
