Recap: Monmouth vs. Siena

West Long Branch, NJ (SportsNetwork.com) - Josh James led the way with 11 points as the Monmouth Hawks held off the Siena Saints, 63-59, in a Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference showdown at the MAC.

Max DiLeo added 10 points and six steals for Monmouth (7-7, 1-2 MAAC), which has won four of five. Tyrone O'Garro added eight points and eight rebounds for the hosts.

For Siena (5-9, 1-2), Rob Poole paced all scorers with 21 points while also grabbing nine rebounds. Evan Hymes came off the bench to score 10 points.

Siena was far from impressive from the floor in the first half, shooting 41.9 percent, but Monmouth was even worse at 37 percent, as the Saints carried a 34-28 lead into intermission.

The Saints continued to lead by six early in the second half before the Hawks pieced together a 14-1 run to take control of the game. Siena would get no closer than three points of the lead for the rest of the contest.

Siena was plagued by a game-high 23 turnovers, which resulted in 22 Monmouth points.
