Recap: Northeastern vs. Milwaukee
New Orleans, LA (SportsNetwork.com) - Scott Eatherton had a double-double of 20 points and 10 rebounds to lead the Northeastern Huskies to a 62-59 comeback win over the Milwaukee Panthers in a second round matchup of the Tulane Classic at Devlin Fieldhouse.
Demetrius Pollard scored 11 for the Huskies (3-8) who snapped their six-game losing streak. The Huskies were able to overcome their 19 turnovers by forcing 16 Panther miscues, and by outrebounding their opponent 38-30.
Aaron Jordan led the Panthers (9-4) with 14 points and eight rebounds, but he shot just 5-of-17 from the field. Matt Tiby and Kyle Kelm scored 11 each, and Austin Arians tallied 10. The Panthers have lost their last two after a five- game win streak.
After just four minutes the Panthers led 11-2 and kept adding to the lead. A 10-0 run in the last 2:30 of the half gave them a commanding 36-17 lead at the break. The Huskies shot just 26.1 percent in the first half compared to 51.7 percent for the Panthers.
In the second half an 8-0 run by the Panthers made the score 46-26 with just 13:34 left in the game. Northeastern rallied and closed the game on a 36-13 run, with Eatherton scoring the final four points on a perfect 4-of-4 showing from the free-throw line in the last 20 seconds.
The Huskies scored 45 points in the second half shooting 58.1 percent from the floor after scoring just 17 in the first frame. The Panthers went from scoring 36 in the first to just 23 in the second on 34.5 percent shooting from the field.Game Notes
