Recap: William & Mary vs. Northeastern

Williamsburg, VA (SportsNetwork.com) - Marcus Thornton scored 25 points off the bench as William & Mary registered an 81-67 win over the Northeastern Huskies in a Colonial Athletic Association showdown at Kaplan Arena.

Thornton converted 5-of-7 shots from behind the 3-point line in the meeting for the Tribe (17-10, 9-5 CAA) as they won for the second time in the last three outings. Also scoring in double figures were Tim Rusthoven and Brandon Britt with 12 and 11 points, respectively.

The Huskies (9-20, 6-9) were paced by T.J. Williams as he dropped in 16 points and handed out five assists, followed by David Walker with 12 points and Demetrius Pollard 10. Zach Stahl came up a point shy of a double-double as he cleared 10 rebounds off the bench as Northeastern lost for the fourth time in five tries.

W&M scored the first points of the day and never looked back, using a 6-of-15 showing behind the 3-point line in the first half to grab a 33-24 advantage at the break.

After shooting 40.7 percent from the floor through the first 20 minutes of action, the Tribe jumped to 65.5 percent accuracy from the field in the second half, making it that much easier to cruise to the double-digit win.

Northeastern's final regular-season game comes a week from today versus Drexel at home.

Johnson headlines FCS players of the week

In 2013, the Montana State Bobcats made a bit of an offensive switch, going from a pass-heavy system to a more run- integrated style of play. The reason wasn't because the team was unstable at quarterback, but rather due to the fact the Bobcats were loaded at the running back position.

Former NBA center Jones passes away
