Recap: Youngstown St vs. Milwaukee

Youngstown, OH (SportsNetwork.com) - Kendrick Perry erupted for a game-high 35 points as the Youngstown State Penguins posted an 88-83 overtime win against the Milwaukee Panthers in Horizon League action at the Beeghly Center.

Perry, who converted 11-of-17 from the floor and 5-of-9 behind the 3-point line, also accounted for nine rebounds, five assists and four steals for the Penguins (15-13, 6-7 HL) as they posted a second straight win. Kamren Belin and Bobby Hain both tallied 14 points, the latter pulling down nine boards, followed by DJ Cole with 11 points and nine assists for the hosts.

Milwaukee (16-11, 6-7), which was playing without a suspended Jordan Aaron, was led by Austin Arians with 28 points, followed by JeVon Lyle off the bench with 15 points, Kyle Kelm 13 and eight boards, and J.J. Panoske who pitched in 11 points for a program that has lost back-to-back decisions.

A tight game throughout, YSU led by as many as five in the first half, but found itself with a 36-34 deficit at the break after shooting only 4-of-14 behind the 3-point line and missing its only two chances at the free-throw line in the period.

In the second half Milwaukee pulled out to a 10-point advantage midway through the frame, but the visitors actually needed a 3-pointer by Steve McWhorter with just under a minute remaining in regulation to knot the score at 74-74 and send it into overtime.

Thanks to a layup by Panoske with 1:17 remaining in the extra session, the Panthers moved out to am 83-82 edge, but from there the hosts closed on a 6-0 run to claim the victory.

The Penguins finished the night shooting 53.3 percent from the floor and produced a 39-27 rebounding advantage.
