Recap: UNC-Wilmington vs. Towson

Wilmington, NC (SportsNetwork.com) - Dylan Sherwood and Chris Dixon both tallied 14 points as the UNC Wilmington Seahawks posted a 66-53 win over the Towson Tigers in a Colonial Athletic Association battle at Trask Coliseum.

Also scoring in double figures for the Seahawks (7-19, 1-10 CAA) was Freddie Jackson who put up 11 points and pulled down six rebounds as the team finally broke through in conference play and snapped a 14-game losing streak.

The Tigers (16-9, 7-3) were paced by Jerrelle Benimon who registered a double- double with 17 points and 15 rebounds, while Marcus Damas added a double- double of his own with 11 points and 10 boards. Timajh Parker-Rivera accounted for 10 rebounds as the team had a four-game win streak come to an end.

Both teams knocked down 11 field goals in the first half, but with Towson being limited to only 1-of-11 shooting behind the 3-point line, that allowed the Seahawks to take a 30-25 advantage at the break.

In the second half the Tigers again struggled from the perimeter (2-of-9) and converted a total of just eight field goals, making it easier for UNCW to cruise to the comfortable victory.

The Seahawks shot only 15-of-32 at the free-throw line on the night, but made up for that lackluster performance by turning the ball over just one time.
