Recap: Savannah State vs. Norfolk State

Savannah, GA (SportsNetwork.com) - Malcolm Hawkins scored 16 points to lift the Norfolk State Spartans to a 56-49 victory over the Savannah State Tigers in Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference action at Tiger Arena.

Pendarvis Williams added 13 points and RaShid Gaston cleared 13 boards for Norfolk State (12-9, 6-2 MEAC).

Joshua Montgomery tallied 13 points and Keierre Richards chipped in 11 for Savannah State (7-14, 5-4).

A low-scoring first half finished with the Spartans clinging to a 22-20 lead. They knocked down 37 percent from the floor in the first period.

After halftime Norfolk State sank 50 percent from the field and 13-of-17 at the free-throw line to capture the victory.

The Tigers only connected on 33.3 percent of their shots in the game.
