Recap: William & Mary vs. Towson

Williamsburg, VA (SportsNetwork.com) - Mike Burwell led all scorers with 23 points, as the Towson Tigers downed the William & Mary Tribe, 85-70, in a Colonial Athletic Association contest at Kaplan Arena.

Jerrelle Benimon registered a double-double with 21 points and 14 rebounds to go with six assists for the Tigers (17-9, 8-3 CAA), who have won five of their last six games. Timajh Parker-Rivera added 12 points, while Four McGlynn chipped in 11.

Brandon Britt scored 16 points for the Tribe (15-9, 7-4), who snapped a three- game winning streak. Omar Prewitt netted 15 points, while Tim Rusthoven and Kyle Gaillard each logged 11 points for the hosts.

Towson shot 53.6 percent from the floor in the first half and it led 41-34 at the intermission. William & Mary made 40.7 percent of its field goal tries, including 4-of-15 from 3-point range.

The Tigers continued their strong shooting in the second frame as they connected on 53.6 percent of their field goal attempts. With 4:13 left, Towson went on a 16-5 run to close out the win.

Towson dominated play inside, as it outscored the Tribe 40-26 in the paint.
