Recap: Rutgers vs. Drexel

Piscataway, NJ (SportsNetwork.com) - Tavon Allen scored 21 points off the bench for the Drexel Dragons, leading them past the Rutgers Scarlet Knights, 70-59, in regional round play of the NIT Season Tip-Off at the RAC.

Allen knocked down 8-of-17 from the field for the Dragons (3-1). Damion Lee (15 points), Franz Massenat (12 points) and Chris Fouch (10 points) also hit double figures for Drexel, while Massenat handed out seven assists.

Kadeem Jack recorded a double-double for the Scarlett Knights (3-2), posting 13 points and 10 rebounds. D'Von Campbell supplied 12 points and J.J. Moore added another 10.

Drexel shot a meager 37.5 percent from the field in the first half, although Rutgers was even worse at 32 percent, as the Dragons carried a 27-22 lead into intermission.

The Scarlet Knight would bring their deficit to just one with under 11 minutes to play, but the Dragons ripped off a 15-3 run to pull away.

Drexel shot 8-of-17 from 3-point range on the night, while Rutgers was just 4- of-15 from long distance.

The Dragons will move on to the seminal round next Wednesday, Nov. 23 at Madison Square Garden and will play nationally-ranked Arizona.
