Recap: Florida State vs. Northeastern

San Juan, Puerto Rico (SportsNetwork.com) - Aaron Thomas scored 16 points off the bench as he led the Florida State Seminoles over the Northeastern Huskies, 62-60, in a thrilling third-place bout in the Puerto Rico Tip-Off at Coliseo Roberto Clemente.

Thomas was 5-of-11 from the field and snagged four steals for the Seminoles (5-1). Robert Gilchrist contributed 12 points on 6-of-9 shooting while Montay Brandon had 10 points.

Scott Eatherton led the way for Northeastern (2-4) with 21 points and 15 rebounds to complete a double-double. Reggie Spencer and David Walker added 13 points each while Spencer grabbed seven rebounds and Walker committed a game- high six turnovers.

After a tightly played first half with both teams shooting around 42 percent from the field, Northeastern took a 29-28 lead into the break.

In the second half, the Seminoles allowed the Huskies to shoot 55.6 percent from the field while shooting just 35.3 percent. Despite struggling, FSU managed to keep itself in the game with two more field goals than the Huskies. With less than a second left in regulation and the game tied at 60-60, Devon Bookert hit a clutch 10-foot jump shot to give the Seminoles the 62-60 victory.

The Huskies struggled with ball security and turned it over 18 times which led to 22 points for the opportunistic Seminoles.
