Recap: East Carolina vs. McNeese State

Kingston, RI (SportsNetwork.com) - Led by a game-high 25 points from Akeem Richmond, the East Carolina Pirates downed the McNeese State Cowboys, 91-62, in consolation round action of the NIT Season Tip-Off at the Ryan Center.

For the Pirates (5-1), Paris Campbell added 16 points, Michael Zangari scored 13, Brandan Stith posted a double-double with 11 points and 10 rebounds, while Caleb White chipped in with 10 points.

Ledrick Eackles led the Cowboys (2-4) with 19 points, while Kevin Hardy added 13 points.

McNeese State struggled from the floor in the first half, shooting just 34.5 percent and 2-of-7 from 3-point distance. East Carolina shot 45.8 percent and connected on 7-of-12 from 3-point range. Trailing by two, the Pirates used a decisive 23-5 run midway through the first half to take control of the contest and went into intermission leading 43-29.

East Carolina continued to shoot the ball well from deep in the second half, draining 7-of-14 from beyond the arc, as part of a 56.3 percent shooting performance in the half. McNeese State again struggled from 3-point range, making only 3-of-12 from that distance after halftime.

East Carolina dominated from long-range, outscoring McNeese State 42-15 from beyond the 3-point arc. The Pirates also won the rebounding battle, 39-32.

Game Notes

Expect points galore when Marshall hosts FAU
