Recap: Elon vs. Georgia State

Elon, NC (SportsNetwork.com) - Led by 19 points from Lucas Troutman, the Elon Phoenix defeated the Georgia State Panthers, 90-85, as part of the NIT Season Tip-Off at Alumni Gym.

Six players scored in double figures for the Phoenix (3-4), including Tanner Samson and Sebastian Koch, each with 15 points, Austin Hamilton with 13, Jack Isenbarger with 12 and Ryley Beaumont with 11 points.

Ryan Harrow led all scorers with 34 points for the Panthers (2-4), while Curtis Washington finished with 17 points and Manny Atkins added 13.

GSU connected on 57.1 percent of its field goal tries in the first half, missing just one of its seven shots from 3-point distance, as the Panthers led at the break, 44-41. Elon kept pace by making 56.5 percent of it shots from the field and 7-of-13 from beyond the arc.

Elon shot 56 percent after halftime, including 8-of-11 from 3-point range. GSU was close behind at 50 percent, making 4-of-10 from beyond the arc. In a tightly contested half, Elon went ahead for good with a little under eight minutes to play and never trailed the rest of the way. The Panthers got it to a one-possession game several times in the final minutes, but could not close the gap, as the Phoenix held on for the win.

The Panthers dominated down low, outscoring the Phoenix in the paint, 42-18. Elon had the advantage at the charity stripe, with a 21-11 scoring advantage.
