Recap: Louisiana Tech vs. Ill-Chicago

Estero, FL (SportsNetwork.com) - Raheem Appleby scored a game-high 26 points as the Louisiana Tech Bulldogs posted a 103-78 win over the Illinois-Chicago Flames in the second round of the inaugural Gulf Coast Showcase.

Chris Anderson tallied 21 points, Cordarius Johnson 18 and Alex Hamilton 10 points for the Bulldogs (4-1) in their fourth straight victory.

The Flames (2-4) were paced by Pat Birt who tallied 11 points off the bench, followed by Jordan Harks with 10.

The Bulldogs scored the first points of the evening and never looked back, shooting 54.5 percent from the floor and 6-of-11 behind the 3-point line in the first half, en route to a commanding 60-36 advantage at the break. Louisiana Tech also converted 18-of-22 at the free-throw line through the first 20 minutes.

In the second half the Bulldogs had their issues at the charity stripe (11- of-21), but still made good on an even 50 percent from the floor in order to maintain their distance.

Louisiana Tech outscored the Flames in the paint, 50-30, and forced UIC into 18 turnovers.

Both teams will be back in action on Wednesday, matching up against Wagner and St. Bonaventure.
