Recap: Old Dominion vs. Saint Louis

Cancun, Mexico (SportsNetwork.com) - Dwayne Evans tallied 21 points and five rebounds as the Saint Louis Billikens defeated the Old Dominion Monarchs, 62-52, at the Aventura Palace Convention Center in a consolation round matchup of the Cancun Challenge.

Rob Loe scored 10 points for Saint Louis (6-1), while Jordair Jett (nine points) and Mike McCall, Jr. (eight points) had three steals apiece.

Aaron Bacote led the Monarchs (4-3) with 15 points. Ambrose Mosley added 12 points, and Richard Ross brought down nine rebounds and blocked three shots.

Despite shooting a modest 41.4 percent from the field in the opening 20 minutes, the Billikens took a slight 29-27 lead into the break. The Monarchs made 50 percent of their tries from the floor but attempted nine fewer shots than Saint Louis.

Old Dominion came out of the intermission cold, shooting a meager 24.2 percent from the floor in the second stanza. The Billikens were able to shoot a steady 44 percent to maintain their lead.

Despite being losing the advantage on the glass, 37-34, Saint Louis outscored Old Dominion 30-20 in the paint.
