Recap: Denver vs. Pepperdine

Anchorage, AK (SportsNetwork.com) - Stacy Davis led all scorers with 22 points as the Pepperdine Waves downed the Denver Pioneers, 68-56, in the consolation round of the Great Alaska Shootout at Sullivan Arena.

Davis shot 8-of-9 from the field for Pepperdine (5-2), which will take on Indiana State in Saturday's fifth-place game. Brendan Lane tallied 12 points and five assists.

For Denver (0-4), Jalen Love poured in 20 points on an impressive day from 3- point range (4-of-7). Brett Olson added 10 points but on just 4-of-13 from the field.

Pepperdine took control of the game with a dominant first half, as it shot a blistering 71.4 percent from the field while holding Denver to only 27.3 percent. The Waves went into the halftime locker room with a comfortable 38-15 lead.

The Waves shot an identical 71.4 percent from the floor in the second half, and while the Pioneers gained some ground in the final 20 minutes, the outcome was never in question.

Pepperdine outscored Denver in the paint, 34-20.
