Byron Wesley was next in line with 15 points, while Julian Jacobs tallied 14 points, seven rebounds and seven assists to help the Trojans (5-3) snap a two- game slide. Nikola Jovanovic chipped in with 12 points and a game-high eight rebounds off the bench.

Xavier led by as many as five midway through the first half, but USC closed the period on a 27-11 run to take a 45-34 lead into the break. The Trojans enjoyed a key 13-3 edge in points off turnovers during the opening frame.

USC pushed its lead to 24 at the 8:46 mark of the second stanza before the Musketeers put together a late charge. However, they were never able to come all the way back as they shot 39 percent from the floor and made only 9-of-17 free throws over the final 20 minutes.

The Trojans managed to get the easier buckets for much of the game, as they had 22 assists on 30 field goals and also enjoyed a 21-10 edge in fast-break points.
