Recap: Fla Gulf Coast vs. Stetson

Fort Myers, FL (SportsNetwork.com) - Chase Fieler scored 17 points as the Florida Gulf Coast Eagles coasted to a 77-55 win over the Stetson Hatters in the quarterfinal round of the Atlantic Sun Conference Tournament at Alico Arena.

Bernard Thompson added 16 points for the Eagles (21-11), while Eric McKnight netted 15 points. Jamail Jones had 10 points and Bret Comer contributed nine points, nine assists and seven rebounds.

B.J. Glasford paced Stetson (7-24) with 13 points. Hunter Miller chipped in 12 points and Willie Green finished with 10 points.

FGCU connected on 53.6 percent of its field goal attempts, including a 5-of-11 clip from 3-point range in the opening period. The Hatters went into the intermission trailing, 41-21, after they were limited to 28.1 percent efficiency from the floor in the first half.

Fieler made all four of his shots from the floor to produce 11 points in the second half. The Eagles converted 13-of-18 attempts at the free-throw line after the break to keep Stetson at bay.

FGCU enjoyed a 41-30 edge in the rebounding battle in the contest. The Eagles will play East Tennessee State on Thursday with a berth in the title game at stake.
