Recap: NC Central vs. Norfolk State

Norfolk, VA (SportsNetwork.com) - Jordan Parks and Jeremy Ingram both scored 14 points as the North Carolina Central Eagles defeated the Norfolk State Spartans, 68-45, in the semifinals of the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference Tournament at Norfolk Scope Arena.

Also scoring in double figures for the top-seeded Eagles (27-5) were Emanuel Chapman and Karamo Jawara with 13 and 11 points, respectively, the latter adding seven assists and six rebounds as well.

Fourth-seeded Norfolk State (19-14) was paced by Pendarvis Williams who tallied 12 points, but he was the only player in double figures for the Spartans. Brandon Goode accounted for six points, nine rebounds and six blocked shots.

Norfolk State led by a couple of points in the first half, but the team converted a total of just nine field goals through the first 20 minutes of action, allowing the Eagles to slip out to a 32-24 advantage at the break.

The Spartans came out flat in the second half, scoring a mere five points through the first 10 minutes of the period, making it that much easier for NC Central to run away with the comfortable victory.

The Eagles won the rebounding battle, 32-22, outscored Norfolk State at the free-throw line, 20-9, and forced the Spartans into 14 turnovers on the evening.

NC Central advances to the championship game on Saturday evening where it will go up against Morgan State for the right to represent the conference in the NCAA Tournament.

NCC won title last year with a 57-54 victory over Morgan State, a year earlier it was Norfolk State with the championship against Bethune-Cookman, 73-70.
