Recap: UNC Greensboro vs. Citadel

Asheville, NC (SportsNetwork.com) - Ashton Moore netted 24 points to lead The Citadel to an 86-76 win over UNC Greensboro in the first round of the Southern Conference Tournament.

Matt Van Scyoc had 20 points for the Bulldogs (7-25), who had lost 17 of their last 19 coming in to the contest. P.J. Horgan added eight points and 12 rebounds.

The Citadel will face third-seed Wofford in Saturday's quarterfinals.

Kyle Cain scored 18 and had six rebounds for the Spartans (14-18), who alternated wins and losses through their last five. R.J. White and Tevon Saddler added 15 points apiece and Kayel Locke contributed 12 points and seven boards.

The first eight minutes of play was a back-and-forth affair before The Citadel used an 18-4 tear to take a 12-point lead, 29-17, with just over six minutes on the clock. The Spartans pulled within 39-30 before halftime.

The Citadel opened the first three minutes of the second half with a 9-4 run to stake themselves a 14-point lead. UNCG came as close as eight several times in the final 17 minutes, the last of which came halfway through the period.
