Recap: Ga Southern vs. UNC Greensboro

Statesboro, GA (SportsNetwork.com) - Tyrone Outlaw came off the bench to score a career-high 17 points as the UNC Greensboro Spartans captured a 68-56 win over the Georgia Southern Eagles in Southern Conference play at Hanner Fieldhouse

Outlaw finished the afternoon shooting 5-of-6 behind the 3-point line in just 20 minutes of action for the Spartans (12-14, 5-6 SoCon) as they snapped a two-game slide. Tevon Saddler added 12 points, eight rebounds and five assists for UNCG, while RJ White and Kyle Cain accounted for 12 and 11 rebounds, respectively.

The Eagles (11-15, 4-7) were paced by Tre Bussey and Brian Holmes who both dropped in 12 points, followed by Angel Matias with 10 points and 11 boards as the team lost for the third time in as many games.

Georgia Southern had difficulty finding the basket in the first half, shooting only 31.3 percent from the floor, including 4-of-17 beyond the arc, but thanks to a 7-2 advantage at the free-throw line it was the Eagles who managed to move out to a 31-30 advantage at the break.

In the second half GSU's struggles continued with a mere 8-of-26 effort from the field, 3-of-12 on the perimeter, as the Spartans responded and cruised to the double-digit road win.

In addition to outscoring the hosts in the paint (33-21), UNCG also benefited from the Eagles converting just 13-of-25 at the charity stripe on the day.

This game was originally scheduled for Wednesday but moved due to inclement weather.
