Recap: Pacific vs. TX A&M-CC

Stockton, CA (SportsNetwork.com) - Sama Taku tallied 15 points, six rebounds and five assists, as the Pacific Tigers made easy work of the Texas A&M-Corpus Christi Islanders, 89-60, in the second round of the CollegeInsider.com Tournament at the Alex G. Spanos Center.

Tony Gill also stuffed the stat sheet with 14 points, seven assists and six boards for Pacific (17-15), which will play in the quarterfinal round next week against an opponent yet to be determined. Ross Rivera and David Taylor added 13 and 10 points, respectively.

For Texas A&M-CC (18-16), Joy Williamson was the lone player to score in double figures with 15 points.

Pacific set the tone in the first half by shooting a lofty 60 percent from the field and 7-of-7 at the free-throw line en route to a comfortable 46-28 lead at intermission. Texas A&M-CC, meanwhile, made good on less than 40 percent of its tries from the floor in the opening 20 minutes.

The Tigers continued to shoot field goals at an impressive clip in the second half (.567) as they cruised to the 29-point victory.

Pacific shot 13-of-15 at the free-throw line, while Texas A&M-CC was a dismal 5-of-18 from the stripe. The Tigers also won the rebounding battle, 37-21.
