Tuscaloosa, AL (Sports Network) - Four freshmen from Alabama's BCS national championship team have been dismissed from the program after their arrests stemming from a pair of recent robberies on campus.

Defensive lineman D.J. Pettway, linebacker Tyler Hayes, cornerback Eddie Williams and redshirt freshman H-back Brent Calloway are all no longer with the team, Crimson Tide head coach Nick Saban stated Wednesday.

Pettway, Hayes and Williams are facing second-degree robbery charges, while Williams and Calloway are charged with fraudulent use of a credit card. The robbery charges were filed following an assault of two students, one of which had his backpack stolen that contained a laptop computer, earlier this month. The other had his wallet taken.

"Based on all the information we've received and gone through in trying to determine the future of the four guys that got in trouble, those guys are no longer associated with the football program," Saban said. "Their actions do not reflect the spirit and character that we want our organization to reflect. It's obviously very disappointing and unacceptable what happened."

The four dismissed players were non-starters on the 2012 Crimson Tide squad which captured its second consecutive national title after January's 42-14 victory over Notre Dame in the BCS Championship Game held in Miami.

Pettway had eight tackles and 2.5 sacks while appearing in 13 games as a redshirt freshman last season, with Hayes recording 14 tackles in 13 contests as a true freshman. Calloway, also a redshirt freshman, had 10 carries totaling 63 yards over 13 games.

Williams was redshirted during the 2012 campaign.

In another development, Saban said wide receiver Danny Woodson was suspended for violating team rules and would not participate in spring practice. Also, wide receiver Marvin Shinn has decided to leave the team.
