Nashville, TN (Sports Network) - Zac Stacy ran for 169 yards and a touchdown, as the Vanderbilt Commodores held off the Auburn Tigers, 17-13, in Southeastern Conference play at Vanderbilt Stadium.

In addition to helping the Commodores (3-4, 2-3 SEC) notch the victory, Stacy became the school's career rushing leader, pushing his total to 2,670 yards.

Tre Mason ran for 85 yards and a TD in a losing effort for the Tigers (1-6, 0-5), who are off to their worst start since 1952.

Vanderbilt opened the game with a 16-play, 75-yard drive that took nearly eight and a half minutes off the clock. Wesley Tate capped the long drive with a seven-yard touchdown run to stake the Commodores a 7-0 lead.

Auburn got on the board at the 8:10 mark of the second quarter on Cody Parkey's 27-yard field goal. Mason gave the Tigers a 10-7 advantage on a one-yard touchdown plunge with 1:21 to play in the opening half.

However, Vanderbilt got the ball back and traveled 65 yards in 11 plays, setting up Carey Spear's 30-yard field goal to tie the game as time expired in the half.

The Commodores regained the lead midway through the third quarter on Stacy's two-yard touchdown plunge, capping a seven-play, 85-yard drive.

Auburn cut the deficit to 17-13 on Parkey's 39-yard field goal with 9:55 remaining in regulation. However, the Tigers would draw no closer the rest of the way.

Vandy held a 382-212 edge in total offense for the game, as Auburn was able to convert only 2-of-12 third downs.
