Bowling Green, OH (Sports Network) - Anthon Samuel tallied two rushing touchdowns as the Bowling Green Falcons held off the Idaho Vandals, 21-13, at Doyt Perry Stadium.

Samuel finished with 67 yards on 14 carries for Bowling Green (1-1). Matt Schilz completed 24-of-35 passes for 283 yards, a touchdown, and an interception, while Shaun Joplin was the primary beneficiary of Schilz's passes, collecting seven receptions for 117 yards.

For Idaho (0-2), Dominique Blackman threw for 352 yards, a touchdown, and an interception on 30-of-37 passing, while Jahrie Level paced all players with 10 catches for 119 yards.

The first score of the game came on a Samuel four-yard touchdown run midway through the first quarter to give Bowling Green a 7-0 lead.

A 20-yard field goal by Trey Farquhar finally put Idaho on the scoreboard with 1:48 remaining in the first half.

The Vandals drove deep into Bowling Green territory again late in the half, but had to settle for another chip-shot field goal from Farquhar (22 yards) to make it 7-6 just before halftime.

Late in the third quarter, Samuel added a 29-yard rushing touchdown to extend the Falcons' lead. Not even two minutes later, Schilz connected on a 15- yard touchdown strike to Je'Ron Stokes to give Bowling Green its biggest lead of the game, 21-6.

Following a 16-yard touchdown pass from Blackman to Marquan Major midway through the fourth quarter, Idaho found itself down by just one score, though it would get no closer. It was the Vandals' first touchdown of the season.

Idaho's rushing attack netted only six yards in the game, partly because Blackman was sacked four times.
