Boulder, CO (Sports Network) - Mike MacIntyre will reportedly leave San Jose State to become the head football coach at Colorado.

According to the Boulder Daily Camera, MacIntyre could be introduced as the new Buffaloes coach on Monday.

MacIntyre has spent three seasons at San Jose State and has turned the program around dramatically. The Spartans were 1-12 in his first season and 5-7 in 2011, but this year's squad is 10-2 and will play Bowling Green in the Military Bowl on Dec. 27 in Washington, DC.

Colorado needs a replacement for Jon Embree, who was fired last month after completing a 1-11 season. The Buffs were just 4-21 in Embree's two seasons.

The 47-year-old MacIntyre, who had signed a contract extension through 2017 in January, spent two years as Duke's defensive coordinator before taking on the San Jose State project. He was also an assistant for four seasons at Ole Miss from 1999-2002 before moving to the NFL, where he was an assistant with Dallas from 2003-06 and the New York Jets in 2007.
