Manhattan, KS (Sports Network) - After a sluggish start in their opener against Missouri State, senior quarterback Collin Klein helped Kansas State storm out of the gate Saturday.

Klein ran for three touchdowns and threw for another in the 21st-ranked Wildcats' 52-13 win over Miami-Florida.

He was 9-of-11 for 210 yards through the air and added 71 yards on 22 carries on the ground for K-State (2-0), which has won 11 straight home tilts against unranked opponents.

"It is a step in the right direction," Klein said of the offense's execution. "I know seeing things last week when we talked about execution and it really is the little things. We were staying ahead of the chase. Those little execution things are the difference of one or two yards or five or six."

John Hubert carried the ball 19 times for 106 yards and a touchdown, while Tyler Lockett caught three balls for 59 yards.

Stephen Morris threw for 215 yards on 19-of-26 efficiency for the Hurricanes (1-1), who have lost 11 of their last 12 road games against top-25 teams.

"The bottom line is that we just were not as crisp as we needed to be," Hurricanes head coach Al Golden said. "Give them credit, they had a very good pass rush."

The Wildcats went 65 yards in 13 plays on their opening drive of the game. Klein, who carried the ball five times for 23 yards on the trek, capped the march with a 1-yard TD plunge.

Arthur Brown, a Miami transfer, pounced on an Eduardo Clements fumble on the eighth play of the Hurricanes' ensuing drive. Klein then finished off a quick five play, 58-yard trek with a 6-yard TD scamper for a 14-0 Wildcats lead.

Clive Wofford hauled in a 56-yard reception on Miami's next series, which led to a 32-yard Jake Wieclaw field goal to get the Hurricanes on the board. K- State, though, countered with a 21-yard Anthony Cantele field goal, which made it 17-3 early in the second quarter.

Klein found Curry Sexton over the middle for a 27-yard touchdown strike on the Wildcats' next drive before Wieclaw knocked a 27-yarder through the uprights right before the half for Miami, which cut the deficit to 24-6.

The Wildcats put the game out of reach in the second half.

Lockett's 44-yard reception led to Klein's third rushing score of the day, a 1-yard quarterback sneak, which capped off K-State's initial march of the third frame and made it 31-6.

Hubert had a 4-yard TD scamper, and backup quarterback Daniel Sams ran for a pair of scores, 15 and 11 yards, respectively, in the final quarter, which increased the margin to 52-6.

Walford hauled in a 2-yard touchdown from Ryan Williams in the final minutes to conclude the scoring.
