( - Bobby Petrino is reportedly set to replace Charlie Strong as the head football coach at the University of Louisville.

According to Yahoo! Sports, Petrino will leave his post as head coach at Western Kentucky to take over the position vacated by Strong, who agreed to become the head coach at Texas on Sunday.

Louisville athletic director Tom Jurich plans to meet with Petrino's agent on Wednesday to finalize the deal, according to the report.

Petrino went 41-9 over four seasons as Louisville's coach from 2003-2006, but reportedly interviewed for multiple jobs behind Jurich's back before leaving to coach the NFL's Atlanta Falcons.

Petrino abruptly left the Falcons just 13 games into the 2007 season to take over the head coaching job at Arkansas, where he spent three seasons and put together an 11-2 campaign in 2011 that culminated in a victory in the Cotton Bowl.

However, the 52-year-old head coach was involved in a motorcycle accident in April of 2012 with his mistress, former Arkansas volleyball player Jessica Dorrell, on the back of the bike.

Petrino, who had helped Dorrell get a job at Arkansas a month prior to the accident, was quickly dismissed following an internal investigation.

After taking a year off from coaching, Petrino took over at Western Kentucky and went 8-4 in his only season with the Hilltoppers.

Because Petrino is leaving WKU for another FBS school, his contract with the Hilltoppers requires him to "use his best effort" to schedule a two-year, home-and-home series between Louisville and Western Kentucky.
