Recap: Ole Miss vs. Texas-El Paso

Oxford, MS (Sports Network) - Bo Wallace tallied four total touchdowns as the Ole Miss Rebels downed the Texas-El Paso Miners, 28-10, in a non-conference bout at Vaught-Hemingway Stadium.

Wallace was a dual threat for Ole Miss (2-0), completing 15-of-22 passes for 174 yards and three touchdowns while adding another 53 yards and a score on the ground. Jeff Scott gained 113 yards rushing on just 13 carries and Donte Moncrief recorded three catches for 72 yards and a touchdown.

For UTEP (0-2), Nick Lamaison went 21-of-33 on his pass attempts for 213 yards and a touchdown, but was also sacked five times on the night. Michael Edwards (nine catches, 88 yards) and Jordan Leslie (six catches, 80 yards, TD) each had good receiving outputs, but the Miners' rushing attack was non-existent, gaining just 37 yards on 30 carries.

Ole Miss struck first at the 10:32 mark of the first quarter when Wallace completed his first pass of the game for a 55-yard touchdown to Moncrief.

Wallace connected on another big play early in the second quarter - this time on a 51-yard touchdown strike to Jaylen Walton - to give the Rebels a 14-0 lead.

With less than a minute left in the second quarter, Wallace ran in a four-yard touchdown to give Ole Miss a convincing 21-0 advantage heading into halftime.

UTEP finally got on the scoreboard a few minutes into the second half when Lamaison connected on a 26-yard touchdown strike to Leslie to bring the Miners within striking distance, 21-7.

The Miners inched closer to the lead later in the third quarter when Steven Valadez knocked through a 37-yard field goal.

The Rebels put the game out of reach in the fourth quarter after Wallace tallied his fourth score of the game on a three-yard pass to H.R. Greer.

The two wins for the Rebels already matches their total from the entire 2011 season.
