Recap: NC State vs. Tennessee

Atlanta, GA (Sports Network) - Tyler Bray completed 27-of-41 passes for 333 yards and threw for two touchdowns to lead Tennessee to a 35-21 win over North Carolina State on Friday.

Cordarrelle Patterson hauled in six balls for 93 yards and caught a touchdown and added another score with a 67-yard run. Zach Rogers caught a 72-yard touchdown and Rajion Neal carried the ball 22 times for 53 yards and a touchdown for the Volunteers (1-0), who posted a disappointing 5-7 record last season.

Mike Glennon was 27-for-46 through the air for 288 yards and a touchdown, but threw four interceptions. Quintin Payton had four catches for 129 yards and Tony Creecy rushed for 48 yards and a touchdown for the Wolfpack (0-1), who travel to Connecticut next Saturday to take on the Huskies.

Tennessee jumped to a 6-0 lead at the 11:31 mark in first quarter when Bray connected with Patterson for a 41-yard bomb. The extra-point attempt failed.

NC State answered back with a touchdown when Creecy punched it in from two yards out to cap a 10-play, 86-yard drive.

After Prentiss Waggner picked off Glennon, Bray found Rogers all alone for a 72-yard score with 1:07 left in the first stanza.

The Volunteers caused a safety on the ensuing possession to go up 15-7 when Glennon was stripped and the ball was pounced on by Logan Winkles in the Wolfpack's own end zone.

Patterson broke a 67-yard touchdown run on the first play following the free kick to put the Vols up 22-7.

NC State would cut it to 22-14 in the second quarter when James Washington broke the plane with a 2-yard scamper.

It was all Tennessee in the second half as Neal capped a 14-play drive with an 8-yard touchdown scamper.

Michael Palardy would split the uprights from 20 yards out to put the Vols up 32-14.

Glennon found Bryan Underwood in the end zone from five yards out in the early parts of the fourth quarter, but it wouldn't be enough as Palardy nailed a 34- yarder with just under two minutes to play and Tennessee cruised to victory.
