Recap: Auburn vs. New Mexico St

Auburn, AL (Sports Network) - Jonathan Wallace got his first career start for the Auburn Tigers and led them to a blowout victory over the New Mexico State Aggies, 42-7, at Jordan-Hare Stadium.

Wallace threw for 164 yards, a touchdown and an interception for Auburn (2-7) and was aided by a terrific rushing attack, led by Tre Mason's 152 yards on 22 carries. Onterio McCalebb also broke the century mark, rushing for 113 yards and two touchdowns. It was the first time since 2010 that the Tigers had multiple 100-yard rushers. Emory Blake caught four passes for 78 yards.

New Mexico State (1-8) dropped its eighth straight game and has still not defeated an FBS school this season. Quarterback Andrew Manley threw for 222 yards on 17-of-30 passing. Austin Franklin was the recipient of 154 of those yards. Germi Morrison led the Aggies on the ground with 79 yards on 19 attempts.

Mason scored the opening touchdown midway through the second quarter, capping a 13-play, 89-yard drive with a five-yard touchdown run. The Auburn offense was unable to produce any more first half points as they went into the break leading just 7-0.

The lead grew quickly as Jay Prosch finished the Tigers' first drive of the second half with a one-yard touchdown run, the first of his career. On the Aggies' next possession, Manley fumbled and Daren Bates ran it in 62 yards for a touchdown, the longest fumble recovery for touchdown for Auburn since 1969. McCalebb then broke through for a 38-yard touchdown run late in the quarter, as Auburn led 28-0 after three quarters.

Tiger Powell scored the Aggies' lone touchdown early in the fourth on a two-yard run. Two more Tigers' touchdowns, a seven-yard McCalebb run and a 40-yard reception by Trovon Reed on a pass from Wallace, concluded the scoring.

Auburn has now won 76 consecutive games when scoring 30 points or more. The Tigers have never lost against New Mexico State in three meetings.
